COLUMBIA — Six alumni who have made outstanding contributions to the University of Missouri were honored Tuesday night by the University of Missouri Alliance of Alumni Associations and Extension.

The UM Outstanding Alumni Service awards are given each year to individuals who have contributed to one of the University of Missouri’s four campuses or University Extension.

This year’s recipients were Rep. Judy Baker, D-Columbia, for her service to MU; Freda Mendez Smith, for her service to University of Missouri-Kansas City; Rep. Steven Tilley, R-Perryville, for his service to University of Missouri-St. Louis; Rep. Bob May, R-Rolla, for his service to Missouri University of Science and Technology; and Sen. Frank Barnitz, D-Lake Spring, for his service to University of Missouri Extension.

Rep. Kenny Hulshof, R-Columbia, was also honored for his service to the entire University of Missouri System.

At an awards dinner at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, the honorees were each given a plaque.
