COLUMBIA — A 16-year-old boy escaped from the Juvenile Justice Center in Columbia on Tuesday, according to a release from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded to a report of the young man’s release around 1:19 p.m. They later found him at the Boone County Fairgrounds and returned him to the detention facility without incident. No one was injured during this time.

The news release said that because of security reasons, no further information will be released on the juvenile or how he escaped.
