COLUMBIA — A 32-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint early Thursday morning outside of his home, Columbia police said.

The victim told police that upon arriving at his residence on the 4800 block of Rice Road between 11:30 p.m. and 12:05 a.m., he was approached by three men, two of them armed with handguns, from the side of the house, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. The suspects grabbed the man by the arm, physically controlling him as they removed an undisclosed amount of cash, his cell phone and keys.

The victim broke free and ran to his father’s residence uninjured, according to the release. He told police he later returned to the scene with his father and recovered his phone.

The suspects were described as wearing ski masks and dark-hooded sweatshirts, according to the release. Anyone with any information is asked to submit a tip on the CrimeStoppers Web site, 875tips.com, or call CrimeStoppers at 875-8477.
