COLUMBIA — A 37-year-old woman from Independence was killed in a one-vehicle accident along Interstate 70 on Tuesday evening, according to Columbia police.

A police news release said that at around 6:15 p.m., Kathy Ann Womack was driving a 1994 Jeep Cherokee in the westbound lane and passed another vehicle near the Stadium Boulevard exit. As she was changing lanes, her Jeep went off the north side of the road and flipped several times. The woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
