LETTER: Chris Kelly, the man with a plan

Wednesday, September 10, 2008 | 4:06 p.m. CDT

Voters of the 24th District have an opportunity to send a special representative to Jefferson City who will serve the people of Boone County and Missouri with distinction. I have known Chris Kelly for 30 years. While I have not always agreed with him, I have always been impressed with his integrity, intelligence, hard work, commitment to justice and fairness and his sense of service. I join a diverse group of supporters who range across the political spectrum, who come from all walks of life and who represent different religious and ethnic traditions and cultural backgrounds. Chris is truly a unifier.

With his extensive administrative, judicial and legislative experiences, not to mention his volunteering with youth soccer, Chris is well prepared to get results in Jefferson City. He will work to create jobs, preserve our environment, protect women from government intrusion into the most private parts of their lives, extend health care coverage to the uninsured, enhance educational quality, shield the judiciary from partisan political interference, promote tax fairness, nurture scientific progress and rebuild our infrastructure.

His opponent seems like a bright enough fellow, but he has proven to be immobilized by the ideological rigidity and intellectual stagnation of his party. We need Chris Kelly in the state legislature to restore competence and fairness.
