Bandana's Bar-B-Q robbed early Monday

COLUMBIA — Two employees of Bandana's Bar-B-Q were attacked and robbed early Monday as they prepared to open the restaurant, according to a release from the Columbia Police Department.

According to police, a man with a handgun entered through the back door of Bandana's Bar-B-Q, 1705 N. Providence Road, at approximately 8 a.m. on Monday. He struck one of the employees in the head with the handgun; the second employee was not injured, according to the release.

The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing dark trousers or blue jeans.

The victim was treated at the scene and did not seek further medical attention.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating the robbery.

Anyone with information may submit a tip on the CrimeStoppers Web site, 875tips.com. Submissions may be made anonymously and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 if the information leads to an arrest.
