ST. LOUIS — A 23-year-old who was considered a rising star on the St. Louis fashion scene has died after being struck by a Jeep Sunday night.

Shawn Williams was struck by a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sunday night on his way inside a nightclub to celebrate his birthday, police said. Williams was thrown several feet by the impact. The driver tried to drive away but was stopped by a nightclub security officer and held until police arrived.

Williams was declared brain dead Tuesday at Saint Louis University Hospital, before being taken off of life support.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Charges for the driver of the car have not been released.
