Amtrak train hits pedestrian

KANSAS CITY — Kansas City police said a pedestrian died after being hit by an Amtrak train.

The Kansas City Star reported that the accident occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday.

The victim is described as a white male in his 30s. Police said he was caught on a railroad overpass as the train approached and tried to outrun the train before he was hit.

The victim's identity has not been released.
