Columbia College wins at women's basketball tournament

The Columbia College women's basketball team defeated host Central Methodist 76-71 on Saturday in the Central Methodist University Invitational in Fayette.

No. 20 Columbia College (6-1) led 35-19 going into halftime, but the Eagles managed to pull within three points with more than a minute to play.

Forward Victoria Smith paced Columbia with 30 points.

The Cougars play against Park University at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Parkville.
