The Hickman boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 79-63 to Grandview on Wednesday in the semifinals of the Blues Springs Tournament.
The Kewpies (5-1) were outscored 25-13 in the second quarter and trailed 66-40 at halftime. They failed to gain any ground in the third, but outscored Grandview 23-13 in the fourth, though it proved too little too late.
Eric Franklin and Crandon Cook led Hickman with 18 points apiece, while Arthur Johnson added nine. Six-foot-8 Quantel Denson’s 16 points led Grandview (4-0), a team that has averaged 90 points in its first games this season.
