The Hickman girls basketball team lost 62-49 to Lee’s Summit on Thursday at the Blue Springs Tournament.

Although the loss dropped Hickman to 0-4, Kewpies coach Tony Mirts said she saw the game as a positive and her team might have turned a corner.

“There was lots of high energy out there tonight,” Mirts said.

Chastity Prince led Hickman with 18 points, Aqua Corpening scored 15 and Shelby Leyden had 10 rebounds, but Mirts also mentioned the improved play of Shaunese Ballenger and Ashley Davis. Azia Washington led Lee’s Summit with 29 points.

Hickman plays in the second round of the tournament at 4 p.m. today.
