Police: Man stole truck to break into store

Tuesday, December 30, 2008 | 3:29 p.m. CST

ST. LOUIS — A Jennings man allegedly stole a tractor-trailer, then climbed on top of it to break into a convenience store from the roof.

St. Louis police were called to a Quick Stop around 1 a.m. Tuesday, where they found the truck with a damaged steering column parked against the rear of the building. They called the fire department, which saw signs someone had entered the store from the rooftop.

A police dog sent into the store located the suspect behind a counter. The suspect has not yet been charged, so authorities are not releasing his name.
