KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A former Kansas City, Mo., cab driver already serving time for murder has been given a life sentence for strangling a Kansas woman in 1993.

Lawrence E. Jensen was sentenced Friday in Wyandotte County District Court in the strangling of 27-year-old Anita Fratzel of Kansas City, Kan., in July 1993.

The life sentence will be added to the 25 years in prison that Jensen already is serving. He was sentenced in 2007 for strangling another woman, 21-year-old Veronica Neverdusky. Her death occurred in Kansas City, Mo., two days after Fratzel was killed.

Jensen was charged in both slayings in 2007. He has admitted to strangling Neverdusky, who sometimes worked as a prostitute, when she couldn't pay her cab fare. It's not clear what provoked him to kill Fratzel, an office worker.
