COLUMBIA – The Columbia Cougars men's basketball team lost to No. 8-ranked McKendree (Ill.) University, 68-65.
Columbia falls to 13-5 on the season and 2-2 in American Midwest Conference play play while McKendree improves to 16-4 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Columbia trailed early in the contest by as many as eight. With just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Taylor Evans drained a three that would tie the score at 18. The Cougars stayed close to the Bearcats, who held a 32-28 advantage at the break.
Four Cougars scored in double figures, led by Christian Lewis. Lewis finished with 16 points, 14 rebounds and two steals. Terrell Turner chipped in 12 points. Brett Hoskins had 11 and Jason Ellis ended with 10 points.
The Cougars play again Thursday when they travel
to Fulton to take on William Woods University.
Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.
