COLUMBIA — Weather in the mid-teens and snow on the ground left residents bundled up and shoveling paths. A wind chill of 9 and temperatures between 11 and 17 is predicted for Wednesday with partly cloudy skies. No further accumulation is predicted for Wednesday but there is a chance of flurries for Thursday.

From left, Joe Johnson, Phillip Paylor and Michael Pipes pick up trash in the frigid morning weather Jan. 28 on University Avenue. The men alternate driving and collecting every hour. Pipes is from Columbia and said he doesn’t mind working outside in the winter weather. “I was born and raised in the cold,” he said.
