JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri National Guard is planning a memorial ceremony to honor two soldiers killed in Iraq last year.

The 35th Engineer Brigade will host the ceremony for Staff Sgt. Brad Skelton of Gordonville and Sgt. Matthew Straughter, of Belleville, Ill., on Friday at the Ike Skelton Training Site.

Straughter was killed by a rocket propelled grenade in Iraq on Jan. 31, 2008.

Skelton was killed by an improvised explosive device on Feb. 6, 2008.

Both were members of the 1138th Engineer Company, Farmington and Fredricktown.

The unit conducted route clearance operations while in Iraq.
