Columbia police were dispatched at 1:53 a.m. Friday after a report of a burglary in progress on the 700 block of Mikel Street, according to a release from the Columbia Police Department.

Tyrone L. Crayton, 19, of Columbia, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and felony stealing, according to the release.

The two victims were asleep when a noise in an unoccupied bedroom woke them. The release said one victim told the police the suspect had climbed out of a bedroom window carrying electronic equipment, then fled the scene on foot.

A Columbia police officer located an individual who matched the suspect's description trespassing in the Worley Street Park, at 503 W. Worley St., at approximately 2:10 a.m. A victim was transported to the park and identified the individual as the burglary suspect, according to the press release.
