JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon picks a Swiss insurance executive to lead the Missouri insurance department.

John Huff has worked since July 2008 at the Zurich headquarters of Swiss Re, one of the world's larger reinsurance companies. Nixon says Huff is a Missouri native with bachelor's, master's and law degrees from various Missouri universities.

The Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions and Professional Registration had been the last major Cabinet position for Nixon to fill.

Nixon says Huff has 16 years of leadership experience in the insurance industry and in dispute resolution.
