SIKESTON — Hundreds of southeast Missourians who suffered hardships following a Jan. 27 ice storm are arriving at resource centers looking for assistance.
Three centers have opened — one each in Sikeston, Poplar Bluff and Kennett.
The resource centers sponsored by several agencies are in the Clinton Building, 501 Campanella Drive, Sikeston; VFW Post 5443, 1101 Veteran St., Kennett; and Black River Coliseum, 301 S. Fifth St., Poplar Bluff. Voucher registration must be in person at a resource center.
Those in need can receive $50 vouchers to help with food, gas or medical care.
More than 20 agencies sent representatives to inform people about services ranging from debris removal to grief counseling.
About 8,500 people are waiting for electricity to return in the region.
