Driver misses animal, hits house

COLUMBIA—A driver ended up in a private yard after attempting to avoid an animal crossing the road Saturday night.

Claude Clark, 38 of Columbia, was driving west on West Old Plank Road. Clark swerved around the animal, but struck a house, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

The house sustained minor damage as a result of the accident. The residents were home at the time, but no injuries were reported.
