UNION — A 29-year-old eastern Missouri man pleads guilty to killing his father.

Michael Hunt entered the guilty plea late Tuesday to a charge of second-degree murder in the 2008 killing of his 44-year-old father, Kevin Hunt. The shooting happened at the family's home near St. Clair in Franklin County.

Michael Hunt was originally charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty after the charge was reduced.

Investigators say the son had been involved in a disagreement with his parents, left, then came back with a stolen rifle and shot his father.

Sentencing will be May 5.
