CAPE GIRARDEAU — Arson investigators in Cape Girardeau are looking into nearly 30 fires that appeared to be intentionally set.

Detective Joe Tado said authorities suspect most of the fires are the work of one person or one group of people. Most of the homes were vacant when burned. But last April, tenant George Robinson died in a fire at a home.

An arson task force made up of police detectives, a fire department official and an investigator from the state fire marshal's office has been meeting on a regular basis.
