COLUMBIA – Missouri freshman softball player Chelsea Thomas earned Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors. The honor is the first of Thomas’ career with the Tigers and the first Pitcher of the Week award the team has received since 2005.

Thomas threw three complete games and got wins in all of them last week, helping the Tigers improve to 18-3 this season. She threw back-to-back no hitters against Southeast Missouri State (8-0) and Missouri (5-0) at the All-Missouri Breast Cancer Awareness Tournament in Springfield, Mo.

Thomas allowed no runs all week and improved her ERA to 0.77. She shut out opponents in seven of her eight wins this year and has held opposing offenses to a .138 batting average.

Thomas will be back on the mound at 3 p.m. Wednesday when Missouri hosts Northern Iowa.
