SPRINGFIELD — A  man is charged with two counts each of robbery and kidnapping in the armed abduction of a couple and the theft of their cash — and 10-week-old puppy.

Twenty-year-old Anthony Lee Cal Jr., of Springfield, was jailed Tuesday on $100,000 bond. Police say he and another man approached a couple at an area car wash Saturday, forced them at gunpoint into their vehicle and ordered them to drive to a nearby neighborhood.

There the duo took the couple's pit bull puppy and a wallet from one of the victims before fleeing on foot. A probable cause statement says the couple picked Cal in a photo lineup and told police that he was the person who stole the puppy.

Greene County deputies said the second suspect was in the car with Cal when they arrested Cal on Monday, but they didn't have enough probable cause to arrest him.
