St. Louis man committed as sexual predator

ST. LOUIS — A judge determines that a 63-year-old St. Louis man is a sexually violent predator, a ruling that will keep the man in custody even after the end of his prison sentence.

The ruling means that Johnell Dandridge is committed to the Missouri Sexual Offender Treatment Center in Farmington. Dandridge recently completed a 20-year prison sentence. He was convicted in 1989 for sodomy and sexual abuse of a 6-year-old boy.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster sought the commitment. St. Louis Circuit Judge David Dowd signed the order Monday.

Dandridge will have the right to an annual review to determine if he should remain in custody. There are 123 sexually violent predators committed in Missouri.
