Cougars women's basketball team advances at NAIA tournament

The Columbia College women's basketball team beat Campbellsville (Ky.) University 64-60 on Thursday in the first round of the NAIA national tournament in Jackson, Tenn.

The victory advances Columbia College to a second-round game against Oklahoma Baptist University today at 12:30 p.m. Oklahoma Baptist beat LSU-Shreveport 57-39 to advance. The Cougars (29-4) are ranked 19th in the country and the Bison (30-4) are ranked fourth.

Rachel Oswald led the Cougars with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while and Whitney Widaman added 12 points and was one of three Cougars who pulled down six rebounds. Whitney Davis had seven points and came up with game-highs of five assists and five steals for a Cougars defense that notched 13 steals and forced 25 Campbellsville turnovers.
