SANDY HOOK — The body of a man who jumped off a mid-Missouri bridge in December in an apparent attempt to get out of the way of a semi has been found more than 20 miles away.

Twenty-year-old John-Paul Forget of Chesterfield was a passenger in a vehicle that lost control on a patch of ice and spun into the Interstate 70 bridge near the town of Rocheport.

Forget was outside the vehicle when a semi approached. Authorities say he jumped from the bridge into the Missouri River because he thought the semi would strike him.

The Missouri State Water Patrol said a railroad worker discovered his body Friday afternoon along the south bank of the Missouri River in Sandy Hook.
