SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — An inmate at the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield has been indicted for allegedly assaulting another inmate in a murder attempt.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Tuesday 29-year-old Rusty Rex Rean — also known as "Starface" — was charged with stabbing another inmate with a sharpened metal rod on Feb. 17. In a news release, prosecutors said the shank was seven inches long.

Rean was indicted by a federal grand jury in Springfield.
