Kansas City man dies after being beaten, hit by car

KANSAS CITY — A man who had been beaten and left on a downtown Kansas City street died after being struck by a vehicle.

The Kansas City Star is reporting that video surveillance from a nearby building shows the 47-year-old victim being beaten Wednesday night. After the vehicle struck the man, he was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Kansas City police are investigating the death as a homicide.

Police did not release the name of the victim. He had listed a previous address at a homeless shelter about 11 blocks away.
