The Rock Bridge girls soccer team lost 1-0 to Helias in overtime Wednesday at Rock Bridge.

The Crusaders scored the winning goal with about three minutes left in the first half of overtime, ruining what had been an otherwise strong effort from sophomore Bruins goaltender Carrie Levy.

Bruins coach Kelly Gates said her team controlled most of the game.

“The girls played real well,” Gates said by phone. “They had control of the ball and moved it along really well. It was an unfortunate way to lose the game. It was an unlucky bounce that our keeper couldn’t get to.”

The Bruins (1-3) play Lee’s Summit West at 4 p.m. Thursday at Rock Bridge.

“We’ll just try and stay positive and work hard tomorrow to try and come out with the win,” Gates said.
