SEDALIA — Sedalia Mayor Robert "Bob" Wasson has died after battling cancer the past year.

His wife, Elle, told the Sedalia Democrat that he passed away peacefully at home Friday. Family members were with him.

The 75-year-old Wasson was diagnosed with a brain tumor, which was removed in April 2008. He had surgery in May 2008 to remove a colon tumor.

He had maintained his civic duties, and his wife said he was doing well until a few weeks ago.

Wasson was pastor at Mt. Herman Baptist Church. Memorial services have been set for next Saturday at First Baptist Church.
