The Hickman girls soccer team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory against Timberland on Thursday at Francis Howell North in St. Louis.
Senior Edith Lopez and sophomore Emily Darter scored the Kewpies' goals. Junior goalkeeper Monica Ross picked up the shutout.
The victory was the final game of three for Hickman in the St. Dominic Tournament. Coach Tony Gragnani said it was great to see his team break out of its slump.
“We were finally able to finish,” Gragnani said. “We’ve been playing a lot of games and having a lot of chances. We were finally able to find the back of the net.”
Gragnani said the win was crucial with their district tournament approaching in a couple of weeks. The team did not want to go winless in the tournament.
The Kewpies play next against St. Francis Borgia on Monday at Cosmopolitan Park.
