Columbia man arrested on suspicion of burglary

COLUMBIA — Police arrested a Columbia man on suspicion of burglary early Wednesday morning, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

At 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a woman’s report of finding a man in her garage near the 200 block of Texas Avenue. The victim was able to give officers a description of the suspect and his direction of travel, which led to the arrest.

Police said Shane E. Crawford, 21, was located near Creasy Springs Road and Texas Avenue with evidence tying him to the burglary. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and felony stealing, according to the release.

Information is being passed to the Major Crimes Unit for further investigation that may link the suspect to several other larcenies.
