Missouri confirms another swine flu case

JEFFERSON CITY — Missouri has confirmed its 10th swine flu case.

The Department of Health and Senior Services said Thursday in a news release that the latest case involves a teenager in St. Louis County. It was confirmed by the state's Public Health Laboratory.

No other details about the teen were released Thursday. A swine flu case confirmed Wednesday also involved a St. Louis County teenager.

But the release said that parents and schools officials should not be overly concerned by the cases among school-age children. It noted that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that school closure is not advised for a suspected or confirmed case of swine flu.

Besides the 10 confirmed cases, Missouri has four probable cases.
