Tuesday, May 12, 2009 | 11:09 a.m. CDT

SPRINGFIELD — A fleeing driver collided with a municipal bus in Springfield, sending four people to the hospital.

Springfield police said in a news release that officers tried to stop the driver twice yesterday afternoon. But the release said officers never pursued the pickup truck.

The crash happened after the truck ran a stop sign and drove into the path of the City Utilities bus. The crash caused the truck to hit another truck.

Police said the man who fled was among the four people sent to the hospital.

Police also arrested a woman suspected of being a passenger in the truck after she was found walking near the crash site. They allege she had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her possession.
