VAN BUREN— A 55-year-old southeast Missouri man is charged with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly accidentally shooting his wife during an argument with his stepson.

John William Moss of Ellsinore is jailed on $25,000 bond. The victim, 52-year-old Regina Moss, died Friday, about a month after she was shot.

Authorities say Moss and his stepson, Michael Deshazo, were involved in an argument at the Moss home. Moss allegedly shot two cell phones with a .22-caliber rifle. The two men then continued to fight when Regina Moss came into the living room and asked them to stop.

Authorities say Moss was still holding the gun when it discharged, striking Regina Moss in the abdomen.
