Train derails in Franklin County

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 | 10:31 a.m. CDT

WASHINGTON — A train hauling coal derailed near Washington, Mo., around 6 a.m. Tuesday, when cars jumped the tracks along the riverbank of the Missouri River at Route 185 and Highway 100.

Several cars have dumped loads of coal.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is reporting no injuries or traffic problems because the derailment is along the riverfront.
