KANSAS CITY — An economist, on leave from the federal agency that insures bank deposits, has been indicted on charges that he tried to hold up a Kansas City-area bank. Jeff Walser allegedly told a teller he had a bomb in his briefcase and demanded money, but did not take a bag containing $41,000 cash. He admitted he didn't have a bomb and surrendered to police.
