Awakened motorist hits officer with car, drives on

KANSAS CITY — Police said a sleeping motorist whose car was facing the wrong way and blocking a Kansas City intersection drove into an officer after being awakened.

The man kept driving away, even after being shocked by a second officer's Taser. Police said the Taser probe still was attached to the man's chest as he fled the scene Sunday morning.

The officer who was hit by the car injured his hip and leg but was expected to recover.

Police still were looking for the driver and his car — a newer model red or maroon Cadillac — on Sunday afternoon. Officers were reviewing a police cruiser video of the incident, hoping to pick up details that could help them find the driver.
