Rock Bridge falls in state boys tennis semifinals

Rockhurst won doubles and secured victories at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to earn a 5-4 victory over Rock Bridge in the semifinals of the Class 2 state boys tennis tournament Thursday in Springfield, Mo.

The loss ended the Bruins' bid to repeat as state champions and snapped a 50-match winning streak dating back to the start of last season.

Rockhurst went on to defeat Kirkwood 5-4 in the state title match. Rock Bridge beat Parkway Central 5-3 in the third place match.
