ORAN — The Missouri State Highway Patrol says two teens are dead and four others injured after a truck they were in crashed in southeastern Missouri.

The accident Sunday near Oran fatally injured 14-year-old Alexis Cummins and 16-year-old Austin Todt, both of Oran. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Amick.

The four other teens in the truck — ages 16 to 19 — were taken to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with serious injuries.

The patrol says the truck was traveling at a high rate of speed on a county road about two miles north of Oran when it overturned several times, ejecting five of the six teens.

The patrol continues to investigate.
