Shepard neighborhood to hold annual garage sale

Thursday, June 4, 2009 | 1:46 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — The Shepard Boulevard neighborhood located off Old 63 will hold its annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Garage sales will be held at individual houses throughout the neighborhood.

Cookie Blake, a former chair of the Shepard Neighborhood Association, estimated 25 households will have garage sales. At least one location will have a bake sale.

Melissa Booth, former chair of the Shepard Neighborhood Association, said the sale usually draws a large crowd, and she doesn't expect things to be any different this year.

"If I open my garage at 7 a.m., people will be there at 7 a.m.," Booth said. "I have even had people stop by the night before when I'm setting up."

Booth said she will be donating half of her profits to the local Ronald McDonald House, a charity that gives parents a place to stay while their children are in the hospital.
