BOWLING GREEN — A preliminary hearing will be July 28 for the northeast Missouri man accused of killing his wife 17 years ago.
Douglas Howery Sr. is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Betty Ann Howery, who was 44 when she disappeared from the couple's rural Annada farm in February 1992. The preliminary hearing date for the 57-year-old suspect was set during a hearing on Monday.
The investigation of the case was renewed when human bones were found in a septic tank in October. The FBI used DNA tests to conclude the bones were those of Betty Ann Howery.
Douglas Howery was arrested May 7.
