Police identify body found in River Des Peres

ST. LOUIS — A 25-year-old Illinois man has been identified as the person whose body was found in the River Des Peres in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on its Web site Tuesday that people who were fishing found the body of Charles Daniel Stringfellow of Mount Carmel, Ill., on Sunday afternoon.

St. Louis police said that Stringfellow's body appeared to have been in the river for "some time."

Police have not released the cause of death.
