Missouri man sentenced in funeral procession death

KANSAS CITY — A Blue Springs man who hit and killed another man during a funeral procession has been sentenced to three years in prison.

But a Jackson County Circuit Court judge gave 22-year-old Jon E. Mihm a chance at probation after 120 days if he stays out of trouble.

Mihm was sentenced Wednesday in the April 2, 2008, death of 51-year-old Steven Keith, also of Blue Springs. Mihm had pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors said an impatient Mihm weaved in and out of the funeral procession until he got to where he wanted to turn, when he veered out of the line and hit Keith, who was escorting the procession on his motorcycle.
