KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A Kansas City, Kan., man has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms for molesting children.

The Kansas City Star reported that Wyandotte County Judge Dexter Burdette ordered Friday that 42-year-old Vernie Burns have no chance of parole for 40 years.

The Wyandotte County district attorney's office said Burns was accused of molesting three victims in their home in Kansas City, Kan. He was convicted in November of two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

Burns had previously been convicted in Missouri for molesting an 8-year-old child.
