Columbia's Wine and Food Festival to begin Saturday

COLUMBIA — Inside Columbia Magazine's Wine and Food Festival is scheduled to begin Saturday, followed by eight days of events that include Tuesday and Thursday wine dinners and tastings at a concert, an art auction, and discount shopping.  The following Saturday afternoon is to be dedicated to wine tastings and seminars, as well.

More than 180 wineries are set to bring more than 400 varieties of wine to give festival participants tasting opportunities throughout the week.

Tickets are on sale at columbiawinefest.com and may be purchased online or by downloading and completing a form and faxing or mailing it to Inside Columbia Magazine at 301 W. Broadway, Columbia, MO 65203. Tickets are sold for each event individually and range from $15 to $125.

This week's featured guest chef, Tim Graham of TRU restaurant in Chicago, is scheduled Wednesday to prepare a private dinner paired with wines by David Ready Jr. of Murphy Goode Winery in Sonoma, Calif. In addition, 10 local chefs are to put together five-course dinners to be held Tuesday and Thursday nights at Columbia restaurants.

For those interested in learning more about wine and specialty foods, the festival also is to offer an afternoon of seminars with winemakers and other experts. Beyond the concert, art auction, dinners and seminars, a day of discount shopping is scheduled for ticket-holders at 21 locations.

Sunday

3:30 and 5 p.m.: Tour de Columbia progressive dinner starting at Mackenzie's Seafood and Steaks and going to Bleu Restaurant and Wine Bar, University Club, and Churchill's

Monday

7 p.m. Wine and Art at Perlow-Stevens Gallery

Tuesday

7 p.m.: Wine Dinners at Bleu Restaurant and Wine Bar, CC’s City Broiler, Les Bourgeois, Sycamore

Wednesday

6:30 p.m.: Private Wine Dinner at the Holiday Inn Executive Center

Thursday

7 p.m.: Wine Dinners at Churchill’s, Mackenzie’s, Peachtree, University Club

Friday

7 p.m.: Wine Concert with the Bel Airs at The Blue Note

Saturday

Noon-6 p.m.: Wine and Food Seminars at the Holiday Inn Executive Center

Noon-6 p.m.: The Grand Tasting at the Holiday Inn Executive Center
