Big Muddy Sports recalls PowerPlus Generators

Thursday, June 25, 2009 | 4:16 p.m. CDT

PERRYVILLE — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of generators sold in Missouri and Illinois.

About 450 PowerPlus Generators from Perryville-based Big Muddy Sports can be returned for refunds.

The product was sold at Buchheit retail stores in Illinois and Missouri during May 2009 for about $700.

The commission said the 220-volt receptacle can fail to produce power correctly, causing power surges that can damage appliances.

There have been five reports of damage caused by power surges, but no injuries.
