ROCK FALLS, Ill. — Residents in the northwest Illinois community of Rock Falls say they're still scared more than a year after four people were found beaten to death in an apartment.

Authorities have said the deaths were part of a string of eight brutal killings in Illinois and Missouri last summer. Charged in the deaths is Nicholas Sheley who's in custody at a Knox County jail. He's awaiting trial.

On June 30 last year, the bodies of 25-year-old Kenneth Ulve, 29-year-old Brock Branson and his 20-year-old fiancee Kilynna Blake, and her 2-year-old son, Dayan Blake, were found in an apartment.

Longtime Rock Falls residents James Capp and his wife, Irene, say they started locking their doors at night for the first time and they're being more careful.
