Nixon appoints two new curators

JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed a former state lawmaker and a newspaper publisher to the University of Missouri System Board of Curators.

Nixon on Tuesday announced his selections of Wayne Goode, of St. Louis, and David Bradley, of St. Joseph, for the board that oversees the four-campus system.

Goode, 71, is a Democrat who represented part of north St. Louis County in the House from 1963 to 1985 and served as a senator from 1985 to 2005. Goode was chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee and the House Education Committee.

Bradley, 59, is a Republican who is president of the News-Press & Gazette Co., which publishes the St. Joseph News-Press. He is a past president of the Missouri Press Association.

Both appointments are subject to Senate confirmation for a term ending Jan. 1, 2015.
